This game is in the category of the top 20 rated electronic pinball machines of all time.
FunHouse Pinball was designed by Pat Lawlor and released by Williams Electronics in 1990. Funhouse Pinball game is themed after the concept of an amusement park funhouse. The player takes the role of a visitor.
In the game, the player needs to win one of the modes by advancing to midnight or closing time, activate Multiball mode, or to complete Mystery Mirror, activate the Super Frenzy mode. Rudy, a talking ventriloquist dummy, is a key feature of this game. He is a talking head doll set in the upper-right corner of the playfield and is a kind of guardian of the Funhouse itself. He responds in real-time to events that are happening on the playfield; he announces bonuses, follows the ball with his eyes when it hits certain targets, and even hackling the player.
Some of the most memorable quotes from Rudy are hard to forget: “Hey, it’s only pinball?”, “I thought we were pals.”, “What’d I ever do to YOU?!”, “you…big…mm Sausage!”, “Quit playing with the clock!”, “its lunchtime, go have a hot dog”, “Get yerself a hawt dawg!”, “That was no accident”, “You’re making me very unhappy…”, “Biff”. And perhaps in these quotes, Rudy was trying to warn us already 30 years ago: “You can’t hide!”, “I’m watching you!” and “I see you now!”
FunHouse Pinball, together with The Addams Family, is one of the most popular pinball machines ever built.
